Welcome to the official blog of Seattle’s newest basketball team! We’ll be posting regular updates on our team, our players, and our journey to becoming the best basketball team in the city.

Introducing the Seattle SuperSonics

Basketball fans in Seattle have something new to cheer about – the Seattle SuperSonics are back! After a twelve-year absence, the SuperSonics are returning to the NBA as an expansion team.

The team will play its home games at KeyArena, which is currently undergoing a $700 million renovation. The arena will be ready in time for the 2023-24 season, when the SuperSonics will tip off their first game.

The team’s owner is billionaire hedge fund manager Steve Ballmer, who also owns the Los Angeles Clippers. Ballmer has committed to spending $1 billion on the SuperSonics over the next ten years.

The SuperSonics are just the latest addition to Seattle’s growing sports scene. The city is also home to the NFL’s Seahawks and MLB’s Mariners. NBA fans can also catch games played by the Vancouver Grizzlies, who relocated to Seattle in 2001.

The History of the SuperSonics

The Seattle SuperSonics, commonly known as the Sonics, were a professional basketball team based in Seattle, Washington. The SuperSonics played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division from 1967 until 2008. After the 2007–08 season ended, the team relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and now plays as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Return of the SuperSonics

It’s been more than a decade since the Seattle SuperSonics left town, but basketball is finally returning to the Emerald City. The Seattle Kraken will begin play in the 2021-22 season as the NHL’s 32nd team, and they’ll be joined by a new NBA franchise a few years later.

The return of professional basketball to Seattle has been a long time coming. Sonics fans have been clamoring for a team ever since the SuperSonics left for Oklahoma City in 2008, and their efforts finally paid off when the NBA awarded Seattle an expansion franchise in 2018.

The Kraken will become just the second professional basketball team in Seattle, joining the WNBA’s Storm. But with a new arena on the way and plenty of fan support, it won’t be long before the Kraken are one of the premier teams in the NBA.

Does seattle have a basketball team

Seattle’s newest basketball team, the SuperSonics, just got their very own arena! The SuperSonics Arena is a state-of-the-art facility that will be home to the team’s games and practices. The arena is located in downtown Seattle and is adjacent to KeyArena, the former home of the SuperSonics.

The SuperSonics Arena is equipped with all the latest amenities, including luxury suites, club seats, and a state-of-the-art scoreboard. The arena also has a practice facility for the team, which includes a full-size basketball court and locker rooms. The SuperSonics Arena is sure to be a hit with basketball fans and will be a great addition to Seattle’s already vibrant sports scene.

The SuperSonics Coaching Staff

The SuperSonics are a new professional basketball team in Seattle, Washington. The team was founded in 2019 and is set to begin play in the 2021-2022 season. The SuperSonics are owned by a group of investors led by entrepreneur Chris Hansen.

The team’s head coach is Lenny Wilkens, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998. Wilkens has won more games than any other coach in NBA history, and he led the Sonics to the NBA Finals in 1979.

The SuperSonics Schedule

The SuperSonics are a professional basketball team located in Seattle, Washington. The team competes in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. They were founded in 1967 as an expansion franchise, and played their home games in the Seattle Center Coliseum. The team joined the NBA as part of the ABA–NBA merger in 1976.

The Future of the SuperSonics

It’s been more than a decade since the Sonics left Seattle, and the city is still without an NBA team. However, that may soon change. Recently, there has been talk of the NBA expanding to 32 teams, and Seattle is one of the cities being considered for a new team.

If Seattle does get a new team, it would likely be called the SuperSonics. The name was trademarked earlier this year, and it’s understood that the trademark was filed with the intention of bringing an NBA team back to Seattle.Although nothing is certain yet, it seems likely that Seattle will once again have an NBA team in the near future.
