The Broncos are presently in talks to arrange an ownership transfer, according to a statement issued by the team. Joe Ellis, the franchise’s President and CEO, had this to say about the timing of the move:
“Our aim is to determine ownership in a fast, responsible, and organized manner… What that will entail for us — there are some things we still need to work out — but our goal is to be able to lay out for everyone a timeline to a transition of ownership that will take place next year prior to the start of the season when the season is over, which [Head Coach] Vic [Fangio] has promised will be in the middle of February.
NFL franchises are one of the greatest investments for the ultra-wealthy, since their value seems to grow rapidly. Many fans will try to get a glimpse of the Broncos in action. If any of the two individuals reported to be interested were able to arrange a sale, it would cause a stir.

Two prominent bidders have surfaced as possible Broncos owners, according to Front Office Sports: Amazon founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos and musician and entrepreneur Jay-Z. So, what are the chances of either of you getting a sale? The solution is a little more complex. Bezos could purchase several NFL franchises with a single check now, let alone one.
It’s not that easy for Jay-Z. The squad is expected to be worth more than $4 billion. Jay-Z is said to have a net worth of $1.4 billion. That implies he’ll need help from others to succeed.
Of course, this isn’t unusual. Minority owners have joined even the wealthiest NFL owners in club ownership. The fact that Jay-Z would be the first Black majority NFL owner makes his potential offer much more shocking.
The NFL has already signed a contract with Jay-Z.
Jay-Z may or may not purchase the Broncos. If he is unable to obtain majority control, he may become a minority owner. Regardless of the Broncos’ sale, he continues to work with the league.
Jay’s business, Roc Nation, inked a lucrative contract with the league in 2019 to “assist in the league’s social justice initiatives and strengthen its ties in the music industry.” Roc Nation serves as the NFL’s “live music entertainment strategist,” advising on all things related to entertainment. This includes assisting with events such as the Super Bowl halftime performance.
Even if Jay-Z doesn’t acquire a piece of the Broncos, it’s obvious that he understands how to spot a good bargain.
