Can We Talk About Ben Simmons Actually Playing Basketball? Because the Indiana Pacers Would Be an Ideal On-Court Fit

Simmons has been a polarizing figure in Philadelphia, but the Sixers would be an ideal fit for his skillset and personality. They have the young talent to take advantage of his passing and shooting while he can use his athleticism to create mismatches.

The ben simmons trade is a topic that has been discussed a lot recently. With the Indiana Pacers being an ideal on-court fit for Ben Simmons, there are many reasons why the Sixers should look into trading him.

The Ben Simmons off-court controversy has been extensively reported in recent months. After a Game 7 defeat to Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks, Doc Rivers and Joel Embiid slammed Simmons. The LSU product then wanted to leave Philly. Simmons now refuses to return to the Philadelphia 76ers organization, even if it means losing a significant amount of money.

The Indiana Pacers are the latest team to be mentioned as a possible destination for the three-time all-star. Caris Levert, a guard, has been mentioned as a potential centerpiece of a trade between Indiana and Philadelphia.

This report, however, has validity, and it should, since the Pacers would be the ideal destination for the unhappy star.

The Pacers may be a final destination for the 6-foot-11 guard. He may end up anywhere from Golden State to any of the Los Angeles teams to Toronto. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Indiana is a club that “makes a lot of sense” for Simmons. The Pacers, he said, are a “sleeper team” in the race for the former Tiger.

Because of its small-market position and location, Indiana is seldom — if ever — a free-agent destination. It’s not a flashy franchise, and it’s not set in the bright lights of a large metropolis. The Pacers are nearly usually in the Eastern Conference playoffs, but they are seldom major title contenders.

One of the few ways the franchise may acquire a star is to trade for a great player under long-term club control (Simmons has four years remaining on his deal).

Simmons would be a great match for the Pacers in basketball.

To get away from all the speculation, Indiana would be a good match for the dynamic point guard on the floor.

Of course, it all depends on who the club sends back to Philadelphia in exchange for Simmons, but a few players may be expected to be involved. Indiana’s finest player is power forward Domantas Sabonis, who has been linked to Levert. For the last several seasons, center Myles Turner has been the subject of trade rumors.

As a result, Malcolm Brogdon will be Simmons’ backcourt running partner. TJ Warren is nothing more than a wing scorer, but he’s a high-level scorer who has averaged close to 20 points in each of the past two seasons when he’s been healthy. Justin Holiday would also benefit from playing time on the wing. In 2019-20, he hit 40.5 percent from three-point range and 38.2 percent on 6.3 attempts a game previous season.

If Turner stays, he’s a lifetime 35.2 percent 3-point shooter who had 3.4 blocks per game when protecting the rim last season.

These components would complement Simmons’ skills, which include rebounding, facilitating, leading the fast break, and being a versatile defender.

In Indiana, the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year would be surrounded by more shooting than he was in Philadelphia. Turner, too, poses a danger to the center spot’s ability to spread the floor. In the half-court, Simmons would have more space to maneuver, whether running the pick and roll and finding open shooters or isolating smaller players near the basket.

He’d help the Pacers’ top players improve. Brogdon was more of a spot-up shooter and backup ballhandler alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks before coming to Indiana. In two of his three seasons in Milwaukee, he shot more than 40% from three, but hasn’t done so since moving to Indiana and becoming a more prominent player.

Holiday and Warren, too, would benefit from open shots and pinpoint passing, whether on catch-and-shoot opportunities or opportunities to run secondary offense from the weakside as opponents attempt to stop Simmons’ drives to the rim.

Opposing attacks would also have problems with a perimeter defender like Simmons and a post defender like Turner.

In Indiana, Simmons would be able to flourish with the squad he’d be surrounded by.

The thefts champion for the 2019-20 season is a flawed player. He’s not a reliable scorer and a poor perimeter shooter. To flourish, he needs certain components around him, which he wasn’t receiving with the Sixers.

Both Embiid and Simmons like to be around the hoop. That’s a major issue in today’s NBA, which is all about speed and space. It clogged and stagnated Philadelphia’s offense, which was exacerbated by the team’s lack of outside shooting.

With the Pacers, though, things would be different. The greatest choices for the squad would play to Simmons’ talents. He’d be a much better fit for Indiana’s lineup.

The trade rumors will continue to circulate until a deal is reached or the No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft reports to Philadelphia. The Pacers, on the other hand, would be an ideal landing place for Simmons if 76ers general manager Daryl Morey decides he’s ready to send one of The Process’s most treasured assets packing.
