The Buccaneers’ Star-Studded Defense is Dangerously Close to Receiving a Massive Boost Thanks to Tom Brady

The New England Patriots are on the brink of completing a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to send quarterback Tom Brady back to his old team. But before Tampa can make it official, they need to clear some cap space and do so by trading away their star defensive player, Darrelle Revis.

The who is tom brady playing for is a question that has been asked since Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With his arrival, many people are wondering how his presence will affect the team’s defense.

Tom Brady isn’t compensated for intercepting opposition quarterbacks. He also doesn’t get paid for bringing his buddies to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, with his star-studded defense in desperate need of reinforcements, the seven-time Super Bowl winner has cleared the way for general manager Jason Licht to fill a major roster need.

And if the Buccaneers take care of business in order to shore up their injury-plagued secondary, Brady’s chances of adding an eighth ring will skyrocket.

The Buccaneers’ star-studded defense has been weakened by injuries.

The Buccaneers have taken a significant step back on defense due to personnel issues. The defending champions are presently rated 27th in points allowed (22.2 per game) after finishing ninth last season (29.3).

Despite having the same starting lineup as last year’s championship team, Tampa Bay suffered a setback early in the season. Sean Murphy-Bunting, the team’s cornerback, dislocated his elbow in the first quarter of the team’s season-opening victory against Dallas. The Buccaneers’ lack of depth at quarterback soon made evident with the 2019 second-round selection out with a dislocated elbow, and Dak Prescott almost guided the Cowboys to victory.

To make things worse, Tampa Bay was dealt a major blow against the Los Angeles Rams when cornerback Jamel Dean was forced to leave the game due to a knee injury. In a 34-24 victory at SoFi Stadium, Matthew Stafford took advantage of a weak secondary and piled up 343 passing yards and four touchdowns.

With 338.3 passing yards allowed per game, the Buccaneers are dead last in passing yards allowed.

Needless to say, their defense’s back end could need some help.

Tom Brady may provide a big help to Tampa Bay’s secondary in the near future.

Could a defense that already has Ndamukong Suh, Shaquil Barrett, and Lavonte David add another star in the near future? The Buccaneers will bolster their secondary with one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time, Richard Sherman, if things go as Tom Brady expects.

The 33-year-old is still a free agent, but he may find a new team in the NFL sooner rather than later.

“Richard Sherman paid a visit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to reports, Tom Brady attempted to sign Richard Sherman to the Patriots a few years ago. It didn’t pan out. NBCS Boston’s Phil Perry tweeted, “The two are now searching for another opportunity to join together.”

Despite the fact that Brady (with the help of Malcolm Butler) delivered Sherman a tough-luck defeat in Super Bowl 49, he has a strong relationship with the five-time All-Pro cornerback.

In fact, the 44-year-old quarterback is said to have played a key part in getting things started with Sherman.

“Before Tampa Bay’s executive staff approached Richard Sherman, #Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady reached out to see whether he was in condition. Brady and Sherman have a close friendship off the field, according to Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed.

Of course, it remains to be seen if the Buccaneers will sign Sherman. However, his presence must be regarded as a good indication for a squad in urgent need of assistance at the corner.

With the addition of Richard Sherman, the defending champs would be unquestionably favorites to win Super Bowl 56.

Tampa should sign Sherman to a deal as soon as he receives a clear bill of health. Even though he isn’t the same player he was in his heyday, he demonstrated in 2019 that he can still play at a high level by earning second-team All-Pro accolades. Adding him to the roster would immediately improve the Buccaneers’ defensive capabilities. After all, having a dependable corner opposite Carlton Davis would certainly make the front seven and the rest of the secondary’s lives simpler.

On so many ways, Sherman seems to be the ideal match. In the conference room, he would offer much-needed expertise and understanding of the game. He’d provide stability and leadership to a crucial role. He’d also improve the Buccaneers’ chances of winning back-to-back championships.

Of course, Foxborough is home to the last club to win the Lombardi Trophy in consecutive seasons.

Tom Brady, who won Super Bowls with the Patriots in 2003 and 2004, may be able to repeat the feat if his current team can reach an agreement with Richard Sherman.

Pro Football Reference provided all statistics.
