While the Cleveland Browns are gearing up for their Week 1 matchup with the New York Giants, they’ll be doing so without their starting quarterback Baker Mayfield. The Browns traded their franchise quarterback to the Kansas City Chiefs this week for their No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft, and while they were quick to say Mayfield would be their starter next season, there’s no telling who will start at quarterback for the Browns now. For one, they now have Nick Chubb, who has made it clear he wants the starting job. But the real story is how Baker Mayfield’s trade to the Chiefs might affect Nick Chubb’s production, assuming he takes over as the Browns’ starter.
Washington Redskins rookie running back Nick Chubb did what seem to be unsurprising, but it did happen. The 5th Round pick out of Georgia had his first 100-yard rushing game of his career. Chubb has rushed for over 100 yards in consecutive games. He is the first rookie in the last 20 years to do this.
One week after Chubb (Georgia Bulldogs RB) was drafted by the Browns (Baker Mayfield and the Browns, the Browns), Chubb’s performance against the Panthers (the Panthers) was so impressive that he essentially gave them a running back by himself. While the Browns offense struggled to get going for most of the game, Chubb (the Browns, and Chubb) was able to run and catch the ball enough to rack up over 200 yards and two touchdowns against the Panthers.
Baker Mayfield and other Browns teammates may be part of the Marvel or DC world, according to Nick Chubb. As this Cleveland club tries to capitalize on last year’s extraordinary success, he’s placed them on a pedestal and increased the pressure considerably.
The Browns are working hard to live up to their promise as AFC contenders. Can they also live up to the “super” moniker given by Chubb?

Nick Chubb, one might assume, was a huge comic book enthusiast. He’s most likely still there.
During a commercial event for his “Chubb Crunch” cereal on Monday, Chubb made some intriguing parallels for his high-profile Browns colleagues. Baker Mayfield and others were compared to superheroes by him.
The Browns running back has adopted the moniker “Batman.” He did say, though, that Cleveland’s roster does not include Robin, just other superheroes. Chubb, for example, likened Mayfield to Captain America and dubbed standout defensive end Myles Garrett Superman.
Other Browns players were also mentioned. Kareem Hunt, Chubb’s backfield partner, has been likened to Wolverine. Jarvis Landry was compared to Iron Man, while Odell Beckham Jr. was compared to Spiderman, according to him.
The Landry and Beckham analogies are particularly appropriate. Landry fought through fractured ribs this past season and played the whole 2019 season with an ailing hip. As a result, Iron Man was born. Meanwhile, Beckham’s Spiderman moniker is likely due to his ability to make amazing one-handed grabs.
There are similarities to be drawn between each of the Browns players mentioned by Chubb and their superhero counterparts. Even yet, the emphasis is on this Cleveland squad to build on their 2020 achievements.
In 2020, the Browns made their first trip in the playoffs in 18 years, and they will be expected to capitalize on that accomplishment.
In football in 2020, the Cleveland Browns were one of the pleasant surprises.
Following a dismal 6-10 season in 2019, first-year head coach Kevin Stefanski guided the Browns to an 11-5 record this season. Cleveland reached the playoffs for the first time since 2002, winning a game in the Wild Card round after beating its AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In 2021, the Browns are likely to set their sights even higher. They strengthened the linebacking corps by selecting Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and reinforced the secondary by adding veteran Los Angeles Rams safety John Johnson III. Garrett is joined up front by Jadeveon Clowney, another seasoned pass rusher. Meanwhile, despite suffering an ACL tear last season, OBJ may provide a lift to the receiving corps.
Cleveland was once regarded as one of the NFL’s most egregious losers. They’ve suddenly become one of football’s most promising and skilled teams. After Chubb compared his teammates to superheroes, the Dawg Pound will not moderate expectations.
The Browns’ top running back is crucial to the team’s success, particularly that of his quarterback.
Cleveland’s offense is ultimately led by Chubb and Mayfield.

This Browns offense relies heavily on Nick Chubb and Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is under a lot of pressure to succeed since he is the quarterback. But, in other ways, Chubb is responsible for much of his success.
Stefanski comes from a run-heavy Minnesota Vikings club and has imbued Cleveland with a similar style. With the Browns attempting to establish the run and set Mayfield up for play-action, Chubb and Hunt saw a lot of action.
Stefanski expects to call Chubb’s number often. Last season, he ran for 1,067 yards on 5.6 yards per carry, and his ability to run between the tackles and outside the tackles allows Stefanski to be more creative with play-action calls. Mayfield also has the additional advantage of bringing back Beckham, another deep danger, but it all begins with the run.
In order for the Browns to live up to Super Bowl aspirations, Nick Chubb and his teammates have set a high standard for themselves and their teammates. If he wants to bring a Lombardi Trophy to Cleveland, he may have to channel his inner Batman.
