6 Players to Watch on Thursday Night Football

The NFL is back! And with the return of football comes a new set of players to watch on Thursday Night Football. Here are six players to keep your eye on this week.

The thursday night football over/under history is a statistic that measures the total number of points scored in an NFL game.

The NFL season of 2021 is arrived. The reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football to open the season. The game has plenty of interest since it features two of the league’s most powerful offenses. The Buccaneers are aiming to repeat, while the Cowboys are hoping to bounce back after a dismal 6-10 season in 2020.

On Thursday Night Football, these are six guys to keep an eye on.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott is going to be the center of attention. After having his 2020 season cut short due to an ankle injury, the 28-year-old is attempting his comeback. While there have been contradictory rumors regarding Prescott’s health, all indications are that he will be ready to play in Week 1. It’s reasonable to anticipate some rust after missing the most of 2021 and the whole preseason. It’ll be fascinating to see which Prescott version appears. This may be a game if he regains the form he showed to start the 2021 season.

Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis

The Cowboys make a solid argument for having the NFL’s finest receiving group. In 2021, Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup will be prominently featured. Tampa Bay’s secondary is led by Carlton Davis, who will be entrusted with protecting these dangerous weapons. In 2020, the Auburn product had a strong season with 68 tackles, four interceptions, and 18 pass defenses. Davis still believes he isn’t getting the recognition he deserves. He’ll get the chance to show how excellent he is straight away.

Returning to the beginning Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott is one of the most well-known players in the game, but he had a down year in 2020. In 15 games, he rushed for 979 yards and six touchdowns. For a player of Zeke’s skill, they are mediocre statistics. Prescott’s injury, though, may be blamed for part of the setback. With Andy Dalton as quarterback, the offense was a shadow of its former glory. The three-time Pro Bowler is eager to bounce back from his worst season. According to the Dallas Cowboys’ official website, Elliott stated, “I’m certainly eager to start a fresh chapter and redeem myself from last year.”

Safety Buccaneers’ Mike Edwards

On Thursday Night Football, the Buccaneers will be without an important member of their defense. Jordan Whitehead, a safety, will sit out the game due to a hamstring issue. Mike Edwards, a third-year safety, will start. The former Kentucky Wildcat has seven NFL starts and played in all 20 games, including the playoffs, in the 2021 season. While the Buccaneers may miss Whitehead, they have complete faith in Edwards. As previously said, the secondary will have their job cut out for them throughout the game.

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons

Micah Parsons had a strong preseason showing. Many expected the Cowboys to use their first-round selection on a cornerback. They chose the Penn State linebacker, though. Parsons has previously shown why this choice should work in a limited sample size. The native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a world-class athlete who flies from one sideline to the other. In 2021, Dallas will be relying on him to make huge plays. The Cowboys’ defense was shaky in 2020, and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is hoping to change that. Parsons has the potential to be a game-changer.

Antonio Brown is a wide receiver.

Antonio Brown seems to have found a home in Tampa Bay after failed stints in Las Vegas and New England. He was one of the greatest wide receivers in football for nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was uncertain if the All-Pro wideout would return to the NFL after some off-field issues. He showed desire in playing with Tom Brady, and the Buccaneers eagerly accepted him. Brown demonstrated that he still has potential. In eight appearances, he caught 45 receptions for 483 yards and four scores.

Pro Football Reference provided all statistics.
