Johnson couldn’t be content even while he was earning a lot of money in the NBA. After his playing career ended, the 12-time All-Star was already formulating plans for how he would supplement his income.
Magic told Sports Illustrated in 1990, “I’m a huge dreamer.” “I still want to buy an office building for some reason.”

Johnson’s $50 million buy-in to the Dodgers was the most he’d ever put into a club. However, the 62-year-old has coached numerous teams in a variety of sports.
Johnson bought a share in the Lakers for $10 million during his initial retirement in 1994. In 2010, the legend, who owned 4.5 percent of the club, sold his stake.
Johnson and fellow members of Guggenheim Partners bought the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA two years after purchasing the Dodgers. Later that year, Magic partnered with soccer icon Mia Hamm and others to invest in Los Angeles FC, the city’s newest Major League Soccer franchise.
