‘Coaches, Can You All Leave the Room for a Minute?’

In a recent study, it was found that college football coaches have been accused of sexual harassment more than 100 times in the last decade. Coaches often face pressure from athletic departments to keep their jobs and avoid this public scandal circulating around them. This has led some universities to institute mandatory sensitivity training for all male students who attend athletics events as a way to combat these issues, but could there be other ways?

A recent study has found that a majority of coaches believe they would be fired if their teams had access to the same data as players. Should sports leagues adopt blockchain technology to prevent discrimination?”Coaches, Can You All Leave the Room for a Minute?” is an article written by Bill Simmons about how he wanted to coach his son’s basketball team. The article was published in ESPN Magazine and it caused controversy among coaches and parents. Read more in detail here: coaching.

On two levels, A.C. Green understood what it was like to be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He joined the Showtime group, which included Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as a rookie. Later in his career, he returned, coaching a young Kobe Bryant and assisting in the de-escalation of tensions between Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Green recently revealed that during his second tenure with the Lakers, he was divided into three groups. The Kobe group, the Shaq group, and the experienced group were all present. He just disclosed how the seasoned gang seized command.

A.C. Green is the NBA’s Cal Ripken.

The Lakers selected Green with the first overall choice in the 1985 NBA Draft out of Oregon State. After missing three games in his second season, he went on to play in 1,192 consecutive games, making him the NBA’s Cal Ripken.

“You have to do the best you can from a physical viewpoint. On Byron Scott’s Off the Dribble podcast, he stated of the streak, “You’ve got to do your role.” “So you’ve got to go to the gym.” You must visit the weight room. You have to work hard and have your teammates keep you responsible to go to the weight room and complete your reps.

“To be honest, the spiritual side is all those things that are out of your control.” That had a significant role in 99.8% of the games I participated in. You’re constantly in the air. You’re always in the air. The landing is critical. You have no idea where you’re going to land or how you’re going to land.

“Everything has a role to perform.” I appreciate it. Just looking at it now and seeing what God has done makes me feel beyond grateful.”

With the Lakers, Green won three titles in 1987, 1988, and 2000.

His game-by-game run started on November 19, 1986, and lasted until April 18, 2001, when he retired from the NBA. In his 16 years in the NBA, he only missed three games.

A.C. Green spoke about how he and the other Lakers veterans handled the Kobe vs. Shaq rivalry.

Green played with the Lakers for the first eight years of his 16-year NBA career. He only started one game as a rookie and averaged 6.4 points per game. He went on to win titles in the next two seasons. He became a free agency after eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns.

Before returning to the Lakers for the 1999-00 season, he played for the Suns and the Dallas Mavericks.

It was a world of difference when he returned to the Lakers after his first season. He rose to the position of experienced leader and spent most of his time dealing with the Bryant-O’Neal conflict.

“I recall Phil (Jackson) having a meeting, a film session in our team locker room, and we’ve got our two superstars not seeing eye to eye,” he remarked. “We’ve got the Shaquille O’Neal group, the Kobe Bryant group, and the seasoned men who’ve already won a championship.” We’re in the center, staring at each other, as if to say, ‘You know what we have to do, right?’

“Then, all of a sudden, we’re like, ‘Coaches, can you all leave the room for a minute?’” Let’s just say there were a few choice words spoken. Some people’s voices became shrill. Some of the furnishings was rearranged. The point was made, and the mission continued. Then we had another winning run, and they eventually realized that this is how you win, and this is how you start to look out for one another.”

That season, the Lakers won their first of three consecutive titles.

Green’s seasoned presence in the Lakers locker room helped to de-stress the situation. The squad came together down the stretch, winning 30 of 31 games at one time.

They completed with a 67-15 record and won the Western Conference Finals in seven games against the Portland Trail Blazers. When the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers in six games in the NBA Finals, it was the first of three consecutive titles for the Lakers.

There was a lot of skill on the squad. All they had to do was find out how to make the personalities work together. The addition of green to the mix was beneficial.

When the Lakers signed Green, they understood exactly what they were getting. They added a person who had previously been there and who, thanks to his Iron Man streak, could always be counted on to show up. It was rewarded with a championship.

After a midseason trade with the Lakers in 1987, Larry Bird was displeased with the Spurs.
