BIRD FINISHES THIRD IN MVP VOTING, PARKER IS WINNER

Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird finished third in the MVP voting revealed today by the WNBA.

Candace Parker was a clear winner, receiving 276.79 total points. The Sparks forward was also named Rookie of the Year. Connecticut's Lindsay Whalen finished second with 242.08 points. Bird finished with 218.51 points.

The Storm point guard surged in the second half of the season after Storm forward Lauren Jackson was injured. Bird finished averaging 14.1 points per game, second only to the 14.4 points she scored during her rookie season.

Jackson finished 10th, and Storm forward Swin Cash finished 18th.

Bird and Jackson were also named All WNBA second team.
